A MULTIFORM ARTIST
|
This office is honoured to present to the Berlin public, which
has always been one of the most sensitive towards
everything including expression and demonstration of the
varied art languages,
an artist who, with his multiform personality, has all the requi-
sites necessary to represent the distinctive nature of the peo-
ple of Ascoli Piceno and the Marche region. This part of Italy
is the birthplace of many artists including Raffaello, Barocci,
Cagli, Licini, Scipione, and Fazzini, of architects like
Bramante, of poets like Leopardi and Cecco d'Ascoli, and of
musicians like Rossini and Spontini. Since the culture of this
part of Italy is so deeply rooted dating back to ancient times,
the people here have the rare virtue to consider man's labour
activities inseparable from their mental and spiritual ideals
and from their veneration of tradition.
Painter, sculptor, engraver, ceramist, medal-maker, VITTO-
RIO AMADIO, is that type of artistic operator who considers
figurative art forms as a meeting point for a more open and
diffused sociality. This is because he believes that art should
not only be destined to the Ëlite, but rather to the entire com-
munity without any distinctions regarding class levels or
caste. Art should be considered not as an exclusive bearer of
values which concern the intellectual conception of making
art, but rather as an expression of creativity, including inventi-
veness and work, which is able to lead the noble skill of the
craftsman - as we have been taught by the positive experien-
ce of the Bauhaus- to a level of consciousness in which the
instinct of the creative individual seizes balance from the
forms and expressiveness from the images.
This meeting point in VITTORIO AMADIO's paintings and
sculptures is an occasion, frequently with results which testify
not only the validity of the Picenian artist's proposals, but also
his involvement in the research of a personal communicative
language.
I am sure the Berlin public will be able to appreciate him.
